The announcement, of three political debates to be held on August 8, 10 and 11, 2007, culminates planning which started in July 2006.
It has been a long road, paved with Sincerity, Understanding and Patience. The representatives of the political parties, media houses, journalists, sponsors from the business community, fund contributors, institutional advisers, and providers of production facilities have all travelled this road along with the Jamaica Debates Commission (JDC). I am pleased to report that ALL these wayfarers have interrelated most gratifyingly in mutual trust and confidence.
The journalists empanelled as questioners are persons with enough 'ear to the ground' for their questions to be the VOICE OF THE PEOPLE during the debates.
It is the expectation that in Jamaica at least 77% of the population will see and/or hear the debates via CVMTV, TVJ, HOT 102 FM, POWER 106 FM and RADIO 94 FM. The Jamaican diaspora and other interested persons in the region and beyond will also have access to the simulcast.
The JDC confidently looks forward to the successful staging of the 2007 debates.
