CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) is the principal vehicle of Canada's official development assistance around the world. CIDA's mandate is to support sustainable development in developing countries, in order to reduce poverty and contribute to a more secure, equitable and prosperous world. CIDA’s long term goal is for Jamaica to be better able to achieve:
-environmentally sustainable economic development, with
-lower levels of poverty,
increased citizen security and
-greater stability
To be achieved by supporting Jamaica's own development priorities
CIDA has 3 types of delivery mechanisms: Multilateral, Partnership and Bilateral programs.
Support for the National Political Debates, through the Jamaica Debates Commission, is provided under CIDA’s Democracy and Governance Fund. The overall goal of the Fund is to contribute to good governance and to the soundness of the democratic process in Jamaica. The purposes of the Fund are to:
Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) is an integrated electric utility company and the sole distributor of electricity in Jamaica. The Company is engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, and also purchases power from five Independent Power Producers.
Along with the provision of electricity, JPS is a key partner in national development. In an effort to strengthen the communities that it serves, the company has a vibrant corporate social responsibility portfolio along with a comprehensive community relations programme, which make significant contributions in the areas of education, health and sports.
JPS also has a strong environmental focus and carries out its operations in an environmentally friendly manner. JPS currently has approximately 570,000 customers who are served by a workforce of approximately 1,600 employees. The Company owns and operates 28 generating plants, 54 substations, and approximately 14,000 kilometres of distribution and transmission lines. The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR), is the independent regulatory agency with responsibility for the electricity sector.
The Desnoes & Geddes Foundation is the charitable arm of Red Stripe, the world’s coolest beer company.
Our mission is: Impacting Lives, Enriching Communities. It is for this reason that we have partnered with many public and private sector organizations on community development projects in Jamaica over the years to enhance the quality of life of our fellow Jamaicans.
The Foundation was formed exclusively for the purpose of carrying out charitable projects aimed at relieving poverty, suffering and distress among Jamaicans.

Formed in 1779, the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) is one of the hemisphere’s oldest business associations. It is a membership-based organization comprised of businesses and professionals working together to build and promote a healthy economy and to improve the quality of life in our country. The association states its mission thus:
To promote businesses by protecting the interest of members; To be a disciplined and caring business community based on integrity and the rule of law and order;. To contribute to the betterment of life for all Jamaicans.
The JCC’s membership comprises large, medium-sized and small firms – and individuals - in virtually all productive sectors. Member firms are engaged in retailing, manufacturing, finance, law, distribution, food services, and a range of other interest areas.

The Media Association Jamaica Ltd. (MAJ) began as the Advertising Media Association Ltd. in 1964. The name was changed in 1964 to the form currently in use.
The association represents several media owners and has as its primary objectives that of strengthening the Jamaican society and its democracy through the fostering of a vibrant, independent and responsible media and of providing support for civil society. As such the MAJ has maintained a watching brief on activities that may impinge on freedom of the press.
The MAJ’s involvement in the national political debates is a means of giving expression to the association’s objectives
